We know everyone has been anxiously awaiting more info about Cougar Fest so here it is!
The festivities will be September 28 from 6:00 – 8:00. Bracelets will go on sale Monday, September 25, 2017 in the office for $10 per child or a max of $30 per family. Bracelets will also be available for purchase the night of the event at the entrance. The bracelet gives you access to the inflatables in the gym, the games/activities located in the elementary hallway, and the cake walk located in the front foyer. The main entrance for festivities will be the gym entrance. We will also have a jail set up so watch out! Friends and family can lock you up for 5 minutes for a cost of $1. No worries though-you can pay your way out with $1, too.
Vendors and the Silent Auction will be set up in the auditorium. Some of the Vendors who have been confirmed are Magic Monograms, Scentsy, Ten31Kids, Sears Glass Shop, doTERRA Essential Oils, Cake Me Away, Rodan + Fields, The Basket Lady (Longaberger Baskets), and Kids Wearhouse. I am excited about all of our Silent Auction baskets! Some of the themes are UK, Springtime in the Smokies, Tastes of the Town, Tools, and Car Cleaning-there’s something for EVERYONE! We will also be having a competition for a teacher to be pied in the face! Jars with the teacher’s pictures on them will be set up in the auditorium. You can drop as many dollars as you’d like, or just some spare change, in each jar. The teacher who raises the most money will get pied!
Be sure to come hungry! We will have pulled pork sandwiches, chips, and a drink available for $5 in the cafeteria. SCS’s Christian Club will be doing a bake sale for everyone to get some yummy desserts!
An Escape Room is being set up in the middle/high school area and will be available for a separate cost of $5 to those in grades 6 and up. Sign ups for the Escape Room will start on Monday, September 25 also. There will be 3 available time slots for the Escape Room; 6:10-6:40, 6:50-7:20, and 7:30-8:00. Groups will be for 6-8 people.
The Usborne Book Fair will be open in the library. Stop by to shop for your child and be sure to check out your teacher’s wish list while you’re there!
There is going to be a lot going on that night and I hope everyone is as excited about it as we are! In order to make everything run smoothly, WE NEED HELP. If everyone does a little, no one person will have to do too much. There are lots of ways that you can help. Mrs. Taylor’s class needs some homemade cakes/pies/cookies for the cake walk. We need enough to make sure that the cake walk can operate all night. Baking for the cake walk provides an opportunity for those who can’t actually be there that night to lend a helping hand. It’s also a great way for parents of young children who will need to be supervised for the games and inflatables to pitch in. Elementary teachers have 30 minute time slots available to help out with their classroom games starting at 6:00 and ending at 8:00. There are also volunteer opportunities available with the main festivities including helping out in the gym with inflatables, working at the jail, vendor/silent auction helpers, etc. A HUGE thanks to those who have already volunteered to help! If you are interested in volunteering in the classroom, please contact your teacher. Each teacher knows what his/her individual needs are. If you are interested in volunteering with the main festivities, or have any questions, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or text 606-416-4648.
